Non Contentious Business Committee

The Non-Contentious Business Committee of Liverpool Law Society represents the Society and the local legal community on non-contentious legal issues and in particular those issues that were not addressed by the more specific non-contentious specialist sub-committees. It also acted as a forum for any issues to be raised by members of the committee or their firms or by members acting as a conduit for issues to come before the committee itself.

The Committee is currently involved with three of the other larger local Law Societies to review areas of concern over the new format Grants of Probate in that there is a perceived increased potential for misuse or fraud.  The other concern is the announcement that Which? will be introducing an internet will production facility.  This raises concern about wills being produced in bulk without the client being seen to ensure their wishes, ensure there isn't undue influence or decide on capacity issues.

The Committee has carried on its role in reviewing a large amount of consultation papers.

Finally, the Committee also arranges a Residential Property Conference, a Commercial Property Conference and the new Wills and Trusts Conference
This committee meets five times a year for an hour, at Liverpool Law Society’s offices in the Cotton Exchange building.
