Event Description

The Hon. Mr. Justice Ryder presented the 7th Conkerton Memorial Lecture on the topic of Autonomy of the Person and the State. Over 100 solicitors, barristers, judges and students of law attended. A welcome speech was given by Liverpool Law Society President Anne Heseltine and at the end of the lecture, Vice President Charlie Jones presented Mr Justice Ryder with a copy of "A Century of Liverpool Lawyers".

The lecture was followed by a champagne reception to mark the Opening of the New Legal Year, which was jointly hosted by Liverpool Law Society and the Northern Circuit. The President, Anne Heseletine and the Leader of the Northern Circuit Richard Marks QC gave speeches during the evening. There was also an opportunity to wander around and enjoy the Art and Sea exhibition and the Magical History tour located on the 2nd floor of the Merseyside Maritime Museum.
