Location: The Liverpool Cathedral
St James Mount

Event Description
The Conkerton Memorial Lecture was delivered on 21st October 2010 at Liverpool Cathedral by Lord Justice Leveson, on the topic “Sentencing in the 21st Century”.
Lord Justice Leveson was a very able substitute for the original intended speaker, Lord Bingham who sadly passed away in September 2010, and he began by paying tribute both to the Conkertons with whom not only had he worked but also knew socially, and Lord Bingham who had held all three most senior judicial posts.
Born in Liverpool and originally a law lecturer at the University of Liverpool, Lord Justice Leveson was called to the Bar in 1970 and appointed Queens Counsel in 1986. He was selected as a Lord Justice of Appeal and a member of the Privy Council in October 2006 becoming a Senior Presiding Judge for England and Wales in January 2007.
A full report on the event appears in the November 2010 issue of Liverpool Law. The Lecture is available here>> Please note, this link will take you to an external website.
Following the Lecture, a Champagne & Canapes Reception was held in the fabulous surroundings of the Well, Liverpool Cathedral, complete with stunning sculptures from the Liverpool Biennial art celebration.
