Event Description

Following the enormous success of the inaugural Merseyside Schools Public Speaking Competition in 2008, Liverpool Law Society held the competition again at the begining of 2009.

The heat rounds for the 2009 competition took place at various schools across Merseyside with 13 schools taking part to produce 4 finalist.

The final of the Merseyside Schools Public Speaking Competition was held in the Council Chamber at the prestigious Liverpool Town Hall on Monday 2nd March 2009 at 5.30pm. The Lord Mayor of Liverpool joined members of Liverpool Law Society, Past Presidents and parents of the pupils to listen to the four schools present their piece on the topic "what two laws would you repeal and why?"
 
The Schools that took part in the Final were, Archbishop Blanch High School, Sacred Heart Catholic College, St Edward's College and Upton Hall School FCJ. 
 
The Judges anounced St Edward's College as the winners. St Edward's College were presented with a glass trophy for the school, and for the pupils a copy of the book "A Centry of Liverpool Lawyers" along with gift vouchers.
