LIVERPOOL LAW SOCIETY HOSTS NATIONAL LAW SOCIETIES CONFERENCE
On 23rd and 24th March 2010, Liverpool Law Society welcomed Presidents, Hon. Secretaries and Administrators from more than 30 local law societies from all over England and Wales.
This Conference represents a rare opportunity for small, medium and large local law societies to meet and discuss issues in common.
Given the economic climate, local law societies must be clear about the benefits of membership of their organisation, which after all is voluntary for solicitors and others in the legal profession. The Income Generation and Media sessions were particularly well-received by the 80-plus delegates. Two further break-out sessions allowed for plenty of interaction, debate and information exchange between all the delegates.
Richard Paton, President of Liverpool Law Society, said “We all found it very instructive to listen to other Societies’ activities and concerns. A common theme which I heard from many of the delegates was that they had taken some really useful ideas away with them.”
The feedback from the participants is very positive: “The whole day has been inspiring” said one delegate; another from Swansea said “Not only was the conference itself both interesting and useful….we were made to feel so welcome by everyone that we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves”.
Liverpool Law Society, one of the largest local law societies in the country, organised a packed programme of events which began with an informal supper followed by a tour of the Cavern Walks area; a full day’s conference and finally a drinks reception arranged by the principal sponsors LexisNexis. Thanks also go to sponsors Moneypenny and Conveyancing Liability Solutions
The host for the 2011 Conference will be Surrey Law Society. One delegate from the South of England said “Surrey may be nearer but it will have a long way to go to emulate Liverpool”.
