In keeping with the Society’s desire to be inclusive and encourage entry to the profession from all backgrounds, Year 12 students from all schools and colleges across Merseyside have been invited to attend the annual ‘Pathways to the Legal Profession’ event, to be held online on Wednesday 4th March 2026 from 1:30pm-3:30pm.
Arranged by Liverpool Law Society’s Education & Charities Sub-Committee, this popular event is designed to offer help and advice to year 12 students from the Liverpool City Region area in the different ways available to pursue a career in law. A degree in law is not the only way to enter the profession; apprenticeships are becoming more widely available and popular for those who are concerned about the burden of debt that comes with studying at University.
The event will include speakers from key institutions such as local Universities, CILEx, providers of legal apprentices, barrister and law firms to talk to students about the options regarding a career in the law. There will be opportunities to ask questions to our expert panel, who will offer their help and advice throughout the event.
Chaired by our president Sarah Mansfield, we are grateful to the following speakers and institutions who are making this event possible:
- Aisling Kiernan, Solicitor Apprentice Programme and Student Lead at the University of Law
- Dr John Fanning, Senior Lecturer in Law, School Lead for Recruitment, Admissions and Widening Participation at The School of Law & Social Justice at the University of Liverpool
- Laura Samaroo, Solicitor, Senior Lecturer in Law and Programme Leader LLM in Legal Practice Lecturer at Liverpool John Moores University
- Nicola Walker, Campus Manager – Liverpool & Chester at The University of Law
- Kiera Dean, Solicitor Apprentice at Weightmans
- Denise Wright, Early Careers Advisor at Weightmans
To date over 220 students and teachers from 14 schools across Merseyside have registered to attend the 2026 event. If you have any enquiries regarding this event, or you are a school in Merseyside who would like to attend please contact us on socialevents@liverpoollawsociety.org.uk
