320 legal professionals, advice sector supporters and half a dozen of our four-legged friends took to the streets on 23 September to take part in Liverpool Law Society’s fundraising walk for the Access to Justice Foundation. Bringing together lawyers, support staff and students from 37 law firms, barristers’ chambers, law centres, university law departments, Merseyside JLD & WLD, and advice providers, the evening showcased the legal community’s commitment to improving access to justice while raising vital funds for the Foundation’s work.
Starting outside the QEII Law Courts in Liverpool city centre, and led by Sarah Mansfield, President of Liverpool Law Society, Anya McNally, Merseyside JLD Chair, His Honour Judge Medland KC, HHJ Pierpoint KC, HHJ Harris and HHJ Parker, Senior Circuit Judge and the Designated Family Judge for Cheshire and Merseyside, the walkers began a 5K route in the late evening sunshine around the city centre that took in iconic venues such as the Port of Liverpool building, the Royal Albert Dock, Chinatown and St George’s Hall before arriving at the Lady of Mann pub. Walkers were welcomed with a drink on arrival kindly sponsored by St John’s Buildings and The University of Law. We very much appreciate their support. Thanks also go to the Lady of Mann pub for hosting the post-walk gathering and providing the soft drinks.
