Law Firm Award (1 – 49 employees) Category Definition

The judging panel will look for a firm that has made a significant contribution and/or brought reputational benefit to Liverpool and surrounding areas, as well as some evidence of attracting more than local work; a firm that can be said in some way to represent ‘law at its best’, that demonstrates a commitment to law as a business. Training initiatives and accreditations received or being worked towards for example Investors in People, client initiatives that you feel have set the firm apart from the rest and contribution to the community including pro-bono work will be assessed.

Entries for this category will be from Liverpool Law Society member firms (located either inside or outside the Society’s area, or both) with up to forty-nine (49) locally-based* staff, including non-fee- earning staff. Member Firms based entirely outside of those geographical areas should count their total number of staff.

*Locally means: the city of Liverpool, the Metropolitan Boroughs of Wirral, Knowsley, Sefton, Widnes, St Helens and Neston in the County of Cheshire.

1. Evidence of a firm that has made a significant contribution and/or brought reputational benefit to Liverpool city region and surrounding areas as well as some evidence of attracting more than local work by the promotion of legal excellence in Merseyside and beyond. (Maximum 100 words)

2. A firm that can be said in some way to represent ‘law at its best’, that demonstrates a commitment to law as a business, run effectively, inclusively and sustainably while taking into account excellence, initiative and innovative thinking in legal tech, client care and/or delivery. (Maximum 100 words)


3. Excellence in leadership, including a clear vision for the future and how you have sought to differentiate yourself in the market including client initiatives that you feel have set the firm apart from the rest. (Maximum 100 words)


4. Contribution to the community including pro-bono work, volunteering and charitable initiatives, examples of positive implementation of Corporate Social Responsibility practices and evidence of partnerships between yourself and the third sector. (Maximum 100 words)


5. Excellence in technical skills and support for on-going continual professional development and education including training initiatives and accreditations received or being worked towards for example Investors in People. (Maximum 100 words)


6. Evidence of your firm’s major development and progress over the period. This may include growth (e.g. good financial performance, a successful merger/acquisition, successful expansion into new practice areas and/or the opening of new offices), new client wins, policies/procedures the firm has introduced to successfully attract and retain talent in Merseyside. (Maximum 100 words)


7. Goals and/or targets you were most proud of achieving during the period, and why. (Maximum 100 words)


8. Success in external listings/awards/recognitions during the period. (Maximum 100 words)
