A special general meeting of Law Society members requested by the Property Lawyers Action Group (PLAG) will be held on Tuesday 23 July 2024. To attend you must register no later than 9am on Monday 15 July, via this webpage, which includes details of the reasons for the meeting. You may attend online or in person at 113 Chancery Lane, London on Tuesday 23 July at 2pm.
PLAG has requested this meeting to enable members of the Law Society to debate and vote on a motion of no confidence in the Law Society’s ability to represent members who undertake conveyancing. PLAG believes the Law Society did not adequately consult with its members before making changes relating to new guidance released by National Trading Standards Estate and Letting Agency Team (NTSELAT) including changes to the TA6 form which some parties consider increases risk of liability in conveyancing transactions for conveyancing solicitors. The Law Society Council has provided a statement in response which can be read via the link above.
Liverpool Law Society considers that many of its solicitor members have an interest in this debate so we are circulating the link to enable you to be involved and vote on this motion should you wish to do so. There are no proxy votes (this is due to the general regulations).
