An exploration of the trend in EU law towards greater protection for rights holders and how this is applied in domestic courts.

The talk will look at the recent decision in Stichting Brein v Ziggo BV (C-610/15) and domestic case law in an analysis of the  concept of ‘communication to the public’. The focus will be on how protection of rights holders is evolving in the online sphere.

Speaker Biographies

Sarah was called to the Bar in 2016 prior to which she completed her undergraduate
law degree at Cambridge and the BPTC in Manchester.
Sarah is a member of the Chancery and Housing Departments. She has a diverse
practice in both of these fields and acts for both private and public clients.
Sarah appears regularly in the County Court. She has also appeared in the High Court
and First Tier Tribunal.
