Description

Fact Finding in Children Act proceedings (public law or private law) cannot be avoided as part of a busy family law practice. Whether that be non-accidental injury allegations in care proceedings, or parental alienation or domestic violence in private law proceedings. At some point, in a complex  case, the facts simply have to be determined. One way or the other.

This one day seminar will start by looking at the universal law applicable in fact finding within child law. The relevant law will be considered with the context of non-accidental injury,  sexual abuse, emotional abuse, domestic violence and parental alienation.

Once this is firmly under your belt, then in the morning session we will also look at practicalities, drafting statements and schedules.

The second part of the day will dealing with advocacy skills within the context of fact finding. Once again this will consider the broad range of subject matters relevant to fact finding.

There will be particular emphasis on polishing practical skills, as well as gaining a thorough understanding of the relevant law.

The speaker is Anthony Hand. He is a barrister of over 30 years experience, who specialises in fact finding cases, and is well used to lecturing in this area. He is knowledgeable, interesting and engaging speaker. Come and put Anthony to the test, learn what he can give you from his experience, and improve your practice accordingly.

The aim of this one day seminar is to assist your:

* Knowledge of the relevant (and ever changing) law around fact finding

* Build confidence and expertise in drafting skills in this important area

* Practical pointers with regard to experts, preparing for fact findings (including case management generally) and advocacy skills at the CMH stage and also at the fact finding hearing itself
