Changes to the CQS standard from May 2019 has seen the introduction of both Desk Based Assessments and Onsite Assessments. Practices will be selected for assessment both reactively and through random selection.

The assessment will be both technical and qualitative and will require CQS accredited firms to demonstrate compliance with the requirements of the CQS scheme throughout the practice, including the ability to evidence the Core Practice Management Standards and The Law Society Conveyancing Protocol through their conduct of conveyancing files.

This seminar is specifically designed for firms who are both CQS accredited, and those firms who are currently working towards attaining accreditation.

The presenter, Tracy Thompson, who is appointed CQS Lead Assessor, will provide guidance to interpret the requirements of the standard whilst gaining practical experience of how to develop and implement those requirements.

The session will look in detail at;

  • Changes to the CQS scheme
  • Key requirements of the Core Practice Management Standard (CPMS)
  • Implementing the required policies and procedures of CQS within your practice
  • Key areas of The Law Society Conveyancing Protocol (6th Edition)
  • Demonstrating compliance with the standard
  • Common assessment issues
  • The assessment process
  • Assessment outcomes
  • CQS overlap with other Quality Standards

The seminar is aimed at Heads of Conveyancing, SRO’s and those charged with preparing the conveyancing department for assessment and will equip you with the in depth practical and technical expertise needed to successfully and swiftly implement policies and procedures to enable you to survive the assessment.
