Ground rent issues are still causing many problems in conveyancing and estate rentcharge issues are threatening to become extreme importance in the mere future. The course looks at some of the issues and some of the problems and their solutions.

Topics covered include:

  • Ground rent issues and escalating ground rents
  • The problem of creating an assured tenancy
  • Service charge liability issues, in particular in the light of Grenfell Tower
  • Estate rentcharges and reasonableness
  • Reporting to the lender and estate rentcharges
  • Remedies of non-payment of estate rentcharges

Speaker Biographies

Richard Snape has worked as a Consultant and Professional Support Lawyer for Davitt Jones Bould Solicitors since 2002.  He was formerly a senior lecturer in law at the University of West of England, Bristol, and was head of Land Law.  He has written various articles for the legal press.  His areas of specialism include both commercial and residential property, in particular in relation to local government law, domestic conveyancing issues, development land, commercial property and incumbrances in relation to land.
