The University of Liverpool Law Clinic provides free and confidential legal advice to members of the public. The advice they offer includes:
Immigration & Nationality:
- We have national expertise in Statelessness based applications – with full representation for applications for permission to stay and to register as British citizens on the grounds of statelessness.
- We advise and assist people with children who want to register as British, and can help with fee waiver applications.
- We can advise and assist refugees who want to naturalise as British Citizens.
- We can help with renewal of leave to remain on a discretionary or human rights basis.
- We can assist with SET(P) applications for refugees seeking Indefinite Leave to Remain.
- We can support individuals with Refugee status or Humanitarian Protection to obtain travel documents.
Family Law:
We provide a free and confidential advice service in relation to child arrangements (we do not advise on divorce or financial matters).
Special Education Needs:
We can advise in relation to all areas of Special Educational Needs, including;
- Support at school to meet a child’s Special Educational Needs
- Obtaining an Education, Health and Care (EHC) assessment
- The content of an EHC Plan and choosing a school
- Appeals to the Special Educational Needs and Disability Tribunal (SENDIST) in relation to all aspects of an EHC Plan, including choice of school
- Delays in obtaining an assessment or the provision within a child’s EHCP
- Advice and support to prepare a legal challenge if your child is without education or school transport.
Community Care Advice Service
Access Care are offering a new, free community care advice service to all Liverpool residents. The service is a Community Care Letter Writing Clinic in collaboration with the University of Liverpool. It is run by University of Liverpool law students, supervised by Access Social Care, to assist people with resolving legal issues related to social care and welfare benefits. The service is hosted by the Liverpool Law Clinic and supervised remotely by Access Social Care’s legal team. To use the service simply complete the form included in the link below.
