Liverpool Law Society is delighted to announce the return of the Legal Awards in 2019.
- recognise and celebrate the achievements of our member law firms, legal departments and individuals
- bring together the region’s legal community
- culminate in a fabulous presentation evening
The Awards are open to members of Liverpool Law Society, however anyone can nominate an individual, team or firm and you can self-nominate. In-house lawyers as well as those in private practice and the public sector can take part. Nominations closed at midday on Monday 18th February 2019.
Winners of Liverpool Law Society’s Legal Awards have the option of choosing to be passported to the longlist of the Law Society’s Excellence Awards taking place in October 2019, if the category coincides with one from the Law Society’s Awards. This is an opportunity to showcase the exceptional legal firms based in the North West area. In previous years we have seen successful winners from the Liverpool Legal Awards go on to win at the Law Society’s ceremony, such as Zoe Gascoyne in 2017, who beat off strong competition in the Solicitor of the Year – Private Practice category. You will be asked when submitting your online entry to Liverpool Law Society’s Legal Awards to tick a box to confirm you are happy for your nomination to be passed on to the Law Society for entry into their Excellence Awards.
The awards will be judged by an independent judging panel with panel members drawn from the worlds of business, academia and the judiciary. The panel will be chaired by a non-practising past president of Liverpool Law Society Glenys Hunt. The panel members are: Professor Warren Barr Head of Department at Liverpool Law School, University of Liverpool, Ms Lesley Martin-Wright, Chief Executive of Knowsley Chamber of Commerce and His Honour Judge Graham Wood QC, the Designated Civil Judge for Cheshire and Merseyside. The panel is entirely independent from Liverpool Law Society’s board. No director of the Society nor staff member is involved in the judging of the Awards in any way. For more information on the members of the judging panel, please click here.
The Awards ceremony will take place on the evening of Friday, 17th May 2019 at The Rum Warehouse, Stanley Dock, Liverpool.
